Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit American Lung Association of Colorado Advocates. The short explanation of this alert was: The third annual American Lung Association State of Tobacco Control: 2004 report has been released. This national report card analyzes state tobacco control laws in four key areas—smokefree air, tobacco program funding, cigarette excise taxes and youth access to tobacco. Colorado scored grades of "F" in all areas except for cigarette excise tax, in which it raised its grade thanks to the tobacco tax passed by 61% of the voters in November. This year our focus is encouraging local city councils to strengthen their smoke-free air laws for workplaces. Approximately 53,000 non-smoking Americans die from secondhand smoke each year. No one in Colorado should have to breathe toxic fumes at their workplace. The time is now to pass strong, comprehensive, 100% smoke-free laws that will protect all workers equally and will save lives. Please take a moment to sign our petition in support of smoke-free cities throughout Colorado. If you would like to view details on this alert, please visit here. |
