Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit American Lung Association of Maryland. The short explanation of this alert was: The third annual American Lung Association State of Tobacco Control: 2004 report has been released. This national report card analyzes state tobacco control laws in four key areas--smokefree air, tobacco program funding, cigarette excise taxes and youth access to tobacco. Maryland scored grades of C in cigarette excise tax, F in tobacco prevention and control spending, B in smokefree air and a F grade for youth access to tobacco. Maryland's tobacco control program needs your help. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recommended a blueprint to save lives that includes a comprehensive approach in Community, Chronic Disease and School Programs, Counter-Marketing and Cessation services. It is critical that Maryland invest tobacco settlement dollars to prevent our children from becoming addicted to tobacco and help adult smokers kick the habit. This is a sound investment that will save lives and reduce our state's health care costs.
Please take a moment to send a letter to your state senator, representive, or governor to support an increase in Maryland's investment to comprehensive tobacco control programs.
