Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit American Lung Association - Southeast Region. The short explanation of this alert was: South Carolina again scored all “F”s in the American Lung Association’s annual State of Tobacco Control 2007 report. The report detailed South Carolina’s failure to increase its lowest-in-the-nation cigarette tax of seven cents and adequately fund tobacco use prevention programs. South Carolina also got an “F” for weak smoke free air and youth access to tobacco laws. Raising South Carolina’s cigarette tax and adequately funding tobacco prevention programs would improve our grades and save lives. Over half of our states have cigarette tax rates of $1.00 or higher. South Carolina continues to fund tobacco use prevention programs at the very lowest levels. Please take a moment to contact your state elected officials and ask them to increase South Carolina's cigarette tax and adequately fund state tobacco use prevention efforts in the 2008 session of the State Legislature.
