Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit American Lung Association Action Network. The short explanation of this alert was: Did you know that without the proper funding the United States could see an increase in one of the world’s most infectious diseases, tuberculosis? Unfortunately, each year there are about 2 million people from around the world that die from this preventable, curable disease. The U.S. has the ability to control and eliminate tuberculosis with adequate funding. Unfortunately, the Administration’s budget for fiscal year 2007 includes a $1 million cut in funding for TB control programs at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. TB rates in the U.S. have been declining but if funding is cut, those rates will go up. The American Lung Association is urging Congress to increase funding to fight TB in this country by $115 million to $252 million in FY07. Please send a letter today in support of proper funding to prevent the looming tuberculosis problem from becoming a public health crisis.
