Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit American Lung Association of Colorado Advocates. The short explanation of this alert was: Denver Council Bill 374 is scheduled for vote on Monday, Aug. 18. This bill would make the sidewalks around hospitals free of second-hand smoke and safe for people to go to and from City hospitals. Please contact Denver City Council members by Monday August 18th, and 1. ask them to support Council Bill 374 (Councilwoman Boigon's ordinance) prohibiting smoking on public right-of-ways (sidewalks) adjoining hospitals with the sunset amendment, 2. tell them the importance of protecting people from secondhand smoke, especially that brief exposure to secondhand smoke can negatively affect vulnerable populations (sick people, people with asthma, heart disease, breathing problems, etc). 3. tell them this is an issue of health and protecting people from exposure to secondhand smoke to prevent acute respiratory and cardiac illness, not property owner rights.
